How To Draw Shadows On Faces: Light From Above [Part 1]

Welcome to my new video series where I'm going to teach you the basics of shading faces! If you've always asked yourself where to start, this video will be helpful. I'll cover lighting and shading of the face and teach you the basic shadow patterns. In Part 1 I'm going to talk about lighting from the top at different angles. You'll learn which parts of the face are usually in shadow, which features throw cast shadows and where they cast them. Keep in mind that these are just the basics and there's a lot more going on with halftones and reflected light. But remembering these basic shadow patterns will be a good starting point for learning how to shade a face correctly.
